ROBERT BURCH

ARTIST STATEMENT

Robert Burch is based in North Carolina. His relationship to creativity began with his captivation and excitement of glass work and began apprenticing in a factory around the age of 16. He attended Pilchuck Glass School shortly before moving to the mecca of glass working: Seattle, Washington. It was there Robert had the honor of working with the renowned artist Martin Blank. In the span of five years, he absorbed many aspects of the sculpture process, including shipping, metal fabrication, and cold working. In 2019, he enrolled at The School of Visual Arts and earned his BFA in Design. Recently, he has began incorporating molten glass, and elements of folklore in his work.
