ARTIST STATEMENT
My work explores the emotional and psychological terrain we navigate when life shifts beyond our control. Moments of uncertainty can disrupt our sense of stability and direction, asking us to confront vulnerability while reconsidering paths we once believed were certain. I am interested in how these experiences reshape perception and reveal an inner capacity for endurance.
Working in watercolor on paper allows for a balance between control and unpredictability. The fluid nature of the medium mirrors the instability and adaptability present in lived experience — pigment spreads, edges soften, and forms emerge through a process that resists complete control. This interplay reflects the tension between disruption and acceptance, fragility and strength.
Rather than illustrating specific events, the work engages with states of transition: the space between loss and recovery, confusion and clarity, stillness and forward movement. Layers, transparency, and subtle shifts in tone suggest the accumulation of experience and the gradual process of rebuilding perspective.
Through these works, I hope viewers find space for reflection and recognize their own resilience. Even in moments of disorientation, there remains the possibility of reorientation, growth, and renewed direction.
Looking back on our journeys, we carry the insight gained through perseverance. That wisdom equips us to meet future challenges with greater clarity, compassion, and trust in what continues to unfold.
