ADAM BALL
ARTIST STATEMENT
Adam Ball’s work is rooted in close observation and sustained research, drawing on source material that spans biological, mechanical, and digital systems. References such as images of his own DNA, engineered structures, and mappings of human movement inform a visual language in which complex data is translated into layered, abstract compositions.
Ball’s process involves accumulation, reduction, and transcription. Visual information is built up through drawing, mark-making, and spatial organization before being refined into works that balance precision with intuition. The resulting compositions retain a sense of motion and rhythm, suggesting underlying systems without directly illustrating them.
Through abstraction, Ball explores how information is perceived, organized, and felt. His work occupies a space between control and openness, where structure is present but never fixed, inviting viewers to engage with the work through attention, movement, and duration rather than immediate interpretation.
