| Artist's Statement |
Some of us are drawn to each other by certain physical features; others
by something less tangible. But it takes time and familiarity to determine
what we truly mean to each other.
This has become my approach to painting. It is my intention to capture
an appearance based on physical and visceral features. The subject
could be as common as the play of light in nature or something dark
and brooding from a black and white photograph.
It is only later while working in the studio that I begin to decipher what
drew me to that particular image and to visually discuss the emotional
aspects within the painting.
