Artist's Statement
The constant goal is to create a painting that blends the planned with the unexpected creating a modern landscape.
Graphic elements are often used in my work to highlight the soft underlying intricacies of the painting. The use of multiple layers, water, scratches and the unexpected gesture help to create a sense history. Through this process the focus emulates the ever changing affects of nature on the landscape.
There is a unique balance that dances between the natural landscapes as they collide with the man-made environment. I find that there is a certain beauty in the collision of these two worlds and the balance that will eventually ensue.
